Mushroom Island Book I: Still Sleeping

PERSONAL LOG DR. JEFFERY MU Mr. BoVine remains in cryostasis. His body has still not fully recovered from the attacks.

Cowdonia punished him thoroughly for what they called his “betrayal.” They wanted him alive long enough to understand what he had done. Then they left him to suffer.

Thankfully, I moved him here before the final ships departed. The chamber is stable. His condition has improved, but he has still not opened his eyes.

Knight remains inside the second chamber. I am grateful that he is still on ice. Without the Dark Blade, nothing keeps his body alive outside cryostasis.

I do not know what Knight would become if he woke. He saved people. He destroyed people. He brought Mr. BoVine back, then took everything from him again.

Keeping him here may be the safest choice. Or perhaps I am only delaying a decision that someone else will eventually be forced to make. I hope this is right.

Mr. BoVine is different. I miss speaking with him. I miss hearing his plans, even the ridiculous ones. This facility is quiet without him.

Every morning, I check the chamber. Every morning, the readings are a little stronger. I tell him what happened while he was asleep. I wish he would wake up.
